Banded calcite, also marketed as onyx, is a striking variety of the mineral calcite, characterised by its distinct, layered bands of varying colours, typically white, orange, yellow, brown, and sometimes even green.  The bands in banded calcite are a result of different mineral impurities or variations in crystal growth conditions over time. Metaphysically, banded calcite is considered a powerful stone for emotional healing and balance. Each color band is believed to correspond with specific energies—orange and yellow bands are said to support creativity, vitality, and self-confidence. In contrast, white or clear bands are thought to bring clarity and purification.
